OARA Members are the natural choice to properly retire any end-of-life vehicle (ELVs) in the province. They have invested in
the training and equipment to ensure each and every vehicle is handled in an environmentally responsible manner. Our audits to the National Code of Practice makes sure of that.
OARA Members also provide the backbone to successful vehicle recycling programs such as Retire Your Ride - Canada's Vehicle
Recycling Program, and the Car Heaven charity car program. Both programs are committed to reducing the number of older, high
polluting cars on our roadways and ensuring the vehicles are processed properly.
A vehicle manufactured in 1995 or earlier produces 19 times more air pollution than a 2004 or newer vehicle. That's why Retire
Your Ride and Car Heaven vehicles are handled differently by our Members than accidented late model vehicles. While usable
parts are still re-used or recycled, none of the components which contribute to emissions are re-used, and the vehicles are
permanently removed from our roads.
