Benefits of Membership The following Membership Benefits have been developed to help add value to your OARA Membership: Car Heaven Charity Car Program OARA manages the Car Heaven program with the Clean Air Foundation to promote the responsible retirement of old, used and derelict motor vehicles. The Car Heaven program benefits ALL participants: the Donor, the Recycler, OARA and our Charity Partners. We annually process over 10,000 cars. Donors receive an income tax receipt, based on the value of the vehicle, and receive a free tow by participating OARA members. Some vehicles are bid on, depending on the year, make and location of the vehicle, while most are assigned on a rotating basis to OARA Members signed up on the Program. Cardinal Couriers OARA is pleased to have the opportunity to work with Cardinal Couriers to develop a partnership program aimed at maximizing customer service for Members. In adopting their vault delivery service you will be able to place orders with your fellow members much later in the day and have them delivered to your vault before 8:00AM the next morning, including Saturdays. General Insurance Program OARA's Program, two years in development, includes coverage for: Property; Liability, Auto, and Garage Auto. Our insurance program is based on an educated insurance carrier and an educated and motivated insurance broker. Contact your local branch or call OARA for a copy of the pricing strucuture Member Rosters Our Annual Roster is professional looking and very easy to use. Are you in it? As an OARA member you will receive an alphabetical listing in the Roster along with a map of where you are located in the province. Each OARA member will receive two free Rosters, any additional Rosters will cost $10 each. To keep our records current, please contact us if you are moving, getting an additional phone line, a new fax number, email or website address. Associate Members receive discounts on advertising rates. Newsletters OARA publishes two high quality, well read newsletters a year, in addition to 25 fax/email Updates. It's the #1 way OARA can keep you informed - so take the time to read it for meeting dates, requests for information, government announcements, and product and research news. Meetings, Conventions & Trade Shows OARA is committed to improving communications between all its members which is why we have twice-yearly meetings (March and September) to discuss industry topics. We have committee meetings, yard tours, educational and training seminars, a full trade show in March, and a variety of social and networking activities. All OARA members are eligible to attend these three-day events. Members can build a strong network of contacts through participation in association committees, meetings, conventions and social events. Knowledge and experiences can be acquired through the exchange of ideas, or new trading relationships established, without interfering with normal competitive relationships. Government, Industry and Public Relations OARA is constantly informing key decision makers about the auto recycling industry and our importance to the overall economy and environment. Effective advocacy is one of the keys to a successful industry future. Working with related automotive and recycling associations further enhances our activities and exposes auto recyclers to a wealth of opportunities. Here are some of the groups that we maintain regular communications with: Automotive Recyclers Association, Auto Recyclers of Canada, Used Car Dealers Association , Collision Industry Action Group, Canada Council of Motor Transport Administrators, OMVIC, IBC Claims Committee. OARA is the voice of the auto recycling industry in Ontario with governments and with the public. Using articles, speaking engagements, advertising, participation in coalitions, and publishing information about the industry, OARA promotes the importance of our sector and its member companies. OARA attempts to create a receptive environment in which members can conduct their business by working with the media, industry and governments. Advertising There are many avenues for advertising but we feel that a unified, group effort is best. Available to you is a full colour, industry-awareness brochure that shows an overview of auto recycling and the positive impact it has on our economy and environment. For greater impact, a video entitled "Auto Recycling is Everyone's Business," has been produced that shows a positive profile of auto recycling. This is an excellent tool to educate your customers, insurance contacts, municipal and provincial politicians, and the general public. An auto recycling website has been created that contains information on auto recycling and links to other relevant sites even links to your own home page. Every year, OARA produces an Advertising Directory that is mailed across the province to the insurance industry and to auto recyclers across Canada. Advertising is accepted, but you get a full listing as part of your membership. We undertake regular and professional advertising on your behalf that highlights the many benefits of our industry and the benefits of working with an OARA Member. Code of Ethics Our members must stand by a guideline of activities to enhance our image with others. A personalized Code of Ethics will be signed by OARA Board Members and forwarded to you to frame and display in your place of business. OARA Logo Using the OARA logo on your business materials and advertising will also raise awareness of your affiliation with OARA. Resource Centre No time to track down the specifics of legislation changes, environment and safety regulations, transportation or communication issues? Call the OARA office and get the information you need, either directly or by referral. Our Associate Members are also a great benefit with product and service information and preferred deals. Professional Staff Members have access to full time professional staff that provide information and advice on recycling issues. We are continually looking to add new member benefits.
